What is Stained Trim Conversion?
Many homeowners who have older homes are converting their old dark stained wooden trim to brighter painted styled trim. We offer this conversion process which can dramatically brighten up your atmosphere and make your home feel bright and fresh.

When your trim was installed, the builder or carpenter used a process that matched the final finish of your trim. If your trim has a stained finish, it is likely that nail holes were not filled, gaps were not caulked or filled and joints may be wider. This is because they stay hidden in the dark trim finish where the naked eye does not detect them.
However, when the conversion takes place all of those issues will become apparent and more visible, which will need to be addressed by the painter. Oftentimes most problem areas are visible immediately after priming and can be remedied then. Sometimes, the problem areas are so extreme that they may require the replacement of that portion of trim. This can be difficult as sometimes older homes will have trim styles that are not readily available.

Our Stained Trim Conversion Process
Through various processes that may include sanding or the wiping on and off of deglazing compounds will be used to create a bondable surface.
All of the trim will need to be primed with an oil based primer.
All of the trim will be caulked around joints and intersections. The nail holes will be filled along with any gaps in the joints.
The final process is to apply two coats of the finish paint to bring out that beautiful look.
